Hog Fennel (Peucedanum Officinale) prefers silica and calcareous soils of the steppes and mountain meadows of southern and central Europe. Peucedanum Officinale is a perennial herb with a bare, up straight, branched stem, reaching 2 m in height. Hog Fennel has long-leaved, slightly pubescent, awl-lanceolate leaves. The root of the young Hog Fennel is pivotal, with time it becomes sparse. If you break the root of Hog Fennel, resinous, light yellow milky juice will stand out from the core. The flowers of Peucedanum Officinale are small, yellow-green. The fruit of the plant is a winged, lenticular double seed, up to 10 mm long.
