Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) grows in cold and temperate regions of Eurasia and North America in coniferous and mixed moist or swampy forests, as well as in the tundra and highlands. Vaccinium myrtillus is a shrub 10-30 cm tall, widespread, branched, deciduous, with bright green, shiny, angular, green branches. The leaves are alternate, sharp, oval in form. The flowers are solitary, drooping, located in the axils of the leaves. The fruit is a dark blue or black spherical berry. The plant blooms in May. Vaccinium myrtillus bears fruits in July-September.
