Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. The root of the plant is used both as a culinary spice and as a nutritional supplement. The most important chemical components of turmeric are a group of compounds called curcuminoids, which include curcumin (diferuloylmethane), demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin. The active compound curcumin is believed to have a range of biological effects, including free-radical scavenging activity. Each Epigenar Turmeric capsule contains 450mg of Turmeric Extract standardised to provide a minimum of 95% curcumin.
