Manjistha translates to 'bright red' as its roots have a red tint. Apart from their extensive use in Ayurvedic medicines and herbs, Manjistha roots are commonly used in other formulas as a coloring agent. Manjistha is known by different names in different parts of the world. Few of the common names include Aromatic madder, Indian madder, Munjeet Madder wort, Bengal madder, Rubia root, and Runas. The stem and roots are the used part. In practice whole plant is used now a days. Its name literally means “bright red” and is a nod to its red roots, which, according to Ayurveda, are the lymph-moving and cleansing property of the plant. Noni (pronounced NO-nee) is a lumpy, mango-sized fruit that is yellow in color, derived from the Morinda citrifolia tree. This tree and its fruit grow among lava flows in Southeast Asia, especially in Polynesia. It’s very bitter and has a distinct odor that is sometimes compared to stinky cheese.
