The mature fruit body of the Cordyceps is dark brown, similar to a twig attached to the caterpillar's head. It consists of two parts: a tuberous, light brown caterpillar body filled with sclerotia, and a dark brown, with a smooth surface of a separate part with perithecia. Height - from 4 to 8 cm, sometimes up to 11 cm, thickness - from 3 to 4 mm; weight - from 300 to 500 mg.
