What the brand says
Sold as “Mai Dong Tincture, Mai Dong, Ophiopogon (Ophiopogon Japonicus) Bark Liquid Extract, Herbal Supplement 4x4 oz”
Mai Dong, Ophiopogon (Ophiopogon Japonicus) is found on the slopes of the mountains and at the foot of the Himalayas, in the Philippines and Japan. Ophiopogon is a tuberous-root plant with a strongly shortened stalk, fibrous roots, on which there are tuberoid thickenings. The leaves are narrowly linear, collected in thick sockets. The upper surface of the leaf plate is smooth, leathery, dark green; the lower has a pronounced longitudinal venation. In the process of growth, the plant forms elongated thin stolons-shoots, which grows over large areas. Ophiopogon begins to bloom in July and continues through September. The flowers are small, pink or purple in color. Fruits of Japanese Ophiopogon are spherical berries, blue-black in color. Small seeds develop inside the fruit.
