Birch (Betula Pendula) is distributed almost throughout Europe, in North Africa, in the Near East and Central Asia. It reaches 25-30 m in height, 7-12 m in the diameter of the crown. The root system of the birch is highly developed, but penetrates not deep in the soil. The bark of young trees is brown, and from eight to ten years whitens. The wood is yellowish white, dense and heavy. Branches are red-brown naked, covered with numerous densely friable, resinous glands-warts. The leaves are alternate, from rhombic-ovate to triangular-ovate. The flowers are regular, small, collected in sessile, hanging flowering inflorescences at the ends of twigs.The fruit is a small squeezed nut from the sides.
