Triphala (the three fruits) is an Ayurvedic, polyherbal preparation comprising three ingredients. The ingredients are all fruits, and they’re all native to India: Bibhitaki, Amalaki, and Haritaki. Each fruit is thought to positively impact the body’s three doshas. In Ayurveda, doshas are elemental forces believed to permeate body, mind, and spirit. Triphala has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years for various benefits. Triphala consists of the three fruits generally in equal proportions. Numerous references in well-respected Ayurvedic texts make clear that Triphala is revered as a multiuse ayurvedic supplement. Triphala contains five of six tastes i.e. sweet, sour, pungent, bitter, and astringent. DR WAKDE’S Triphala is available in supplement form, as a powder and as a capsule. The powder is available in 100g glass bottles & 500g pouches. The powder is meant to be dissolved in warm water and consumed as a tea. It may also be used as an oral swish, like a mouthwash. Triphala may have a bitter taste, but it can be mixed with honey or lemon without diminishing its effects. Triphala supplement has varying daily dosages based upon the requirements. The powder can be taken normally in the dosage of 1 to 2 teaspoon with warm water, once or twice daily. Triphala supplements may be most effective when taken right before bed with a large glass of warm water. Some people prefer to take this supplement on an empty stomach, while others prefer to take it with food. Discuss these options with your practitioner.
