Many call a cold water+cold alcohol extracted chaga (simultaneous process) a double extraction, but it isn't. A true double extraction must include a separate hot water process. Our process, a true double & separate hot & cold extraction does pull all medicinal properties of chaga. A/Chaga must soak for 6 weeks in cold water+ very high alcohol content to extract betulin, sterols; medium proof alcohol does not suffice. B/After first pressing we must simmer it to release polysaccharides, phenolics; cold/warm water does not suffice. Then the 2 are combined after second pressing resulting in lower alcohol content. A single process of cold water & alcohol pulls alcohol soluble constituents & a single process of hot water pulls water soluble constituents, but we must combine the 2 extractions to obtain chaga's full benefits & your dosage will be less. Our first cold extraction is 1:2.5; we need a minimum of 2.5 ml for proper maceration (no percolation) of 1 gram of fine powder (no chunks for best extraction); it cannot soak in 1 ml, 1:1. Our second hot extraction is (simmered down to) 1:1.5. Our true double & separate cold & hot extractions combined will not be lower than 1:4. Our extracts are from first extractions only, from cold & hot process successively. We use Certified Organic grape alcohol (only Certified is legally Organic); no pesticides, GMO, allergen free, unlike corn/grain. Our wild chaga cannot be Certified Organic because it is not cultivated. We do not use Certified Organic chaga which is a birch tree free lab grown mycelium lacking phytosterols & betulin. Chaga, being a mushroom, absorbs pollutants. In Alaska, we are not upwind/downwind of distant/nearby industries. Our chaga, Inonotus obliquus is free of Fomes fomentarius mushrooms.
